Albums You Should Listen to Again: Episode One

I’m currently sitting in the studio as Paul edits some stuff up to make it sound nice and organized. We’re listening to David Gray’s “Life in Slow Motion” and I decided it’s time to start a new segment here on the blog.

It had been a while since I last listened to this album but a few weeks ago I put it on repeat in the background and since then it’s been on heavy rotation. Put some headphones on and just close your eyes. David Gray is a masterful songwriter. Simple but so well done. I’m sure there are people out there that don’t like him but I’ve never met them. Highlights for me are the title track, ‘Live in Slow Motion’ and ‘The One I Love’ - they’re timeless songs.

Apparently he’s put out a new record (or is getting ready to) and I’ve yet to pick it up but I’m really looking forward to hearing it.

Seriously, why are still reading this… go listen.

I love how the title song is 20 or 25 words, and, um, not linear, yet it’s so…evocative. Of something.

You’re right about that album, though. It’s a “way-homer.” “I’m already home, Glenn.”

    Again with the Raising Arizona!

    I apologize.

love it. and you do have to listen with headphones or really nice speakers, because there is so much going on that you don’t pick up on without them. for kelly and me, this is “our album” and life in slow motion might be our dance at the wedding. rock and freakin roll.

saw the wifey at josh ritter. it was some good stuff, as i’m sure you’ve heard.
