Fox News…

In college I was a media communications major at the rapidly growing Kennesaw State University (Go Fighting Owls!). Basically, what media communications means is journalism with some management and some first amendment classes. I was taught that objectivity is the key element to great journalism and getting your facts right were second. Guess who fails at this: Fox News.
I will post a video below if I can figure out how to get it on the blog that Fox News ran about 10 days ago regarding a video game called Mass Effect and its content. The game is rated M (for Mature) and does, if played in a specific way feature a small 1 minute “sex” scene. When I say “sex” scene, compare it to something you’d see on primetime television… not your playboy channel or pay-per-view in a cheap motel. It’s very calm compared to things I’ve seen in primetime television but what bother’s me is Fox News and they’re ability to get all the facts wrong. Below are things that Fox News is reporting and I will clear them up.
1. Full Digital Nudity (false - just some side breast-age and a little butt crack. Magazine covers have worse and TV’s leave in the boob cleavage but blur out the butt cleavage…. which baffles me because we all have butt cracks. I’ve seen more in a PG-13 movie.)
2. Full Control During the Sex - (wrong again! you’re thinking of Grand Theft Auto and even then, it shouldn’t be censored)
3. Game is Marketed to Kids and Young Teens - (The Mature Rating might be the only alluring marketing technique. and trust me, this game isn’t rated mature for the sex scene but rather the violence and language)
My biggest question in all of this is: How is this newsworthy?
I mean, we have soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanastan. Pakistan is a source of concern and so is Iran for those in favor of police-ing the world (which I am not). The Presidential Campaign Trail is really interesting these days and the economy is slowing, not receeding, but still, that’s more newsworthy than a video game with a little bit of spicy content.
I really hate Fox News and for the most part, I hate CNN too. It’s all biased journalism and someone else is pulling the strings. I need a break from thinking about this… I’m going to play Mass Effect.

Did you play God of War? That had a sex scene. I thought it was a little weird. I guess I never thought sex would involve pushing triangle and moving the joystick (!?) in circles.
That turned out way dirtier than I expected.
stay away from my joystick!!!
I didn’t play that game but I heard it was a great game. This is the first I’ve heard of a sex scene in the game but I think it’s just Fox News being the total journalistic screwballs they are.
I pretty much think every news station fails. No one is as ojective as they think they are. I could give some great examples, but there isn’t much point. The key is to take into consideration the source. I think you probably know that, though. Personally, I’m not fond of cleavage at either end. LOL The first is geared towards getting a guy’s attention. The second just grosses me out. LOL We all poop, too, but I don’t relish viewing it.
A lot of things aren’t newsworthy, and half of those that are we may never really know half of the truth about. So, we muddle as best we can.
