Deep Fried Oreos

Lauren and I are about to celebrate two years of marriage in about a month and I’m not sure if we’re going to go anywhere to celebrate. Last year we went to Disney World and it was my maiden voyage to the theme park(s). I highly recommend a trip there before you have children for two reasons:

1. It’s really fun.
2. You get multiple examples on how NOT to raise children.

The best thing that happened relating to Disney and my birthday took place at a disney restaurant. The chef came by to see how everything was, saw it was my birthday, asked where I was from and said, “Don’t leave until I come back.”

He went back to his kitchen and came back about 10 minutes later with a dish of fried orbs. Wished me a happy birthday and went on his way. We had no clue what the fried orbs where but I knew I was going to try it because the dude made them specifically for me. I took a bite and realized I had just tried my first Deep Fried Oreo. It was fantastic.

After Lauren finished her shift at the hospital this evening she came home and ate dinner. I was snacking on Oreos and she said, “Hey, let’s try to deep fry them.” Here’s the final results:

The batter was too runny. Next time it won’t be.
